In this very first episode of Hey Let's Collab, I share the story that completely changed the way I think about growing an online business. Long before I had an email list, social media following, or blog, I discovered that collaborations could unlock opportunities far faster than traditional marketing strategies. What started as a simple conversation with a few creators turned into a business-building approach that has generated sales, subscribers, relationships, and growth for years.

If you've ever felt overwhelmed by the pressure to constantly create content, grow a following, or wait for organic reach to work in your favor, this episode will show you another path forward.

Tune in to hear more on:

  • How a simple collaboration strategy helped me generate $200,000 in course sales with no audience of my own.
  • Why you don't need a large following, email list, or product to start collaborating.
  • The different types of collaborations available to creators at every stage of business.
  • What I've learned from participating in more than 100 collaborations over the last decade.
  • Why showing up in someone else's community can create faster growth than building everything from scratch.
  • What you can expect from future episodes as we break down real collaboration case studies from pitch to results.

Collaborations have been one of the most powerful growth tools in my business, and this podcast is dedicated to showing you exactly how they work. Nadalie Bardo

Hey, it's Nadalie and welcome to the Hey Let's Collab podcast. This is a podcast about how successful creators grow through collaboration. Every episode, we unpack one specific partnership from the first pitch to the final result. This gives you the full blueprint on how to collaborate with confidence and grow your business through aligned connections. Ready to get started? You'll love this week's collaboration. I had zero blog posts, no email list, and no social media followers anywhere. But I made 200k in course sales. Here's how I did it. I reached out to a handful of other online creators that I had known, and I asked them a simple question. Hey, would your audience be interested in learning about Pinterest marketing? They said yes. So I hosted a class, low tech. We used YouTube. I embedded it on a landing page and I pitched my course. Somehow it worked. And that's when I realized, what if I don't need to create content? What if I don't need to build a social media following first? What if I don't need to wait on Google? What if I don't have to run ads in order to make money? In order to grow my audience. So fast forward a few years later, I've done over 100 collaborations, not just as the host, but as the participant as well. And I've been able to grow an audience of over 10,000 email subscribers, continue to sell my course, and I didn't have to do all that other stuff that as an online creator, an online marketer, I've been told that I need to do in order to succeed online. So I'm here to tell you, you don't need to do it the long way, the hard way, either. You can take the shortcut, and that shortcut is collaborations. So hey there, it's Nadalie Bardo, and I am the host of the Hey Let's Collab podcast. I am a Toronto-based collaboration strategist that is obsessed with helping you to find ways to grow through collaborations. And yes, that might sound scary to you right now, but I promise you, it's actually quite simple. A collaboration can be anything from, hey, want to send an email to your audience about this great freebie I have, or even more simple than that, can I come on to your IG Live or into your community and teach? Or here's a tip for your Roundup post. Collaborations come in all shapes and sizes, but the best part is there's no requirements. You don't need to have a big email list or social media following to get started. You don't even have to have a product to sell. You could just be at the point where you want to share your expertise in some way in someone else's community. Whether that's text-based or whether it's coming on camera, there's so many levels to collaboration. It really does come down to what you're comfortable with. But I do encourage you to get started with collaborations because it's the fastest way to grow online. You don't need to do the long way of waiting for organic content to take off. So when we're talking about collaborations, and that's what we're gonna be talking about on this podcast, I want you to know the ins and the outs. If I'm being honest, I wanted to start this podcast because I was nosy. I know so many online creators who are using collaborations strategically to grow their audience and their income. And I wanted to know exactly how. I wanted to know all the details. I wanted to know what words they were using in their emails, their DMs, and their social posts. I wanted to know exactly what the results they were having from that collaboration was. So I started this podcast for me, but also for online creators like you, so you could know exactly how to use collaborations to grow your own business, how you can get started. So we'll be breaking down everything from how to collaborate as an absolute beginner to diving into case studies and stories of real life creators who are using collaborations in a way that all those other ways to grow just can't compete. And as someone who has done over 100 collaborations as a host, but mostly as a participant, I have seen firsthand the power of collaboration. And as an online creator myself who has participated and hosted in total over 100 collaborations, I know that you don't need a viral moment. You don't need to run ads, you don't need to create 100 blog posts or gain hundreds of thousands of followers on social media in order to make money, in order to grow a community or to build an audience. It's not true. You don't need to do it that way. I think back to all the collaborations I've been a part of, and one particular one comes to mind. So I just want to give a special shout out to Eden Fried. You host some incredible summits. I aspire to be at your level, but every time I'm a part of one of Eden's events, I grow my email list by hundreds of subscribers, I make sales on my Tripwire, and I enroll students in my online courses. That's the power of collaboration. You don't need to be a host. Sometimes it's nice to just show up in someone else's community, let them do all the behind the scenes connecting and you know, setup so that you can just show up and shine and you're out of there with subscribers, with sales of your product, for people signing up for your freebie or even just following you on socials. Whatever type of growth you're looking for, you can accomplish that with collabs. And I just want to say this from right now: this podcast is not about brand collabs, although we might talk about them here or there. It's not necessarily about the version of collaborations you may have heard. I'm talking about online creators reaching out and growing each other's communities together. Because I know that I wouldn't still be here 10 years in without the friends and collaborators that I've made along this journey. So, friend, welcome, buckle up. In this podcast, we will be diving into real life stories of collaborations from the pitch to the results. I'll also be breaking down for you the different types of collaborations, how you can get started with pitches, how you can host events, how you can participate in them. We are going to uncover all aspects of what it means to collaborate as a creator. So if you haven't as yet, click that subscribe button and be sure to keep listening.
